Kanye West has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs.
Kanye joins a long list of major hitters (Madonna, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, LL Cool J, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé) who have been honored with the lifetime achievement award. The Vanguard Award is given to musicians who have made a profound effect on the MTV culture, honoring an artist’s body of work.
Hosted by Miley Cyrus, the 2015 MTV VMAs takes place this Sunday at 9 p.m. EST live from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
