Wiz Khalifa was able to give back to his Pittsburgh alma mater by blessing the student body with backpacks. In all, he gave out 1,700 back packs worth $45,000.
“It feels awesome to be back at Allderdice,” Khalifa told Pittsburgh News 4. “I love my school. I love Pittsburgh. I love being able to spread some positivity and give kids some hope.”
Wiz attended the school in the early 2000s. Coming back to show love over a decade later was a big deal. “It’s huge,” Principal Melissa Freiz said. “It means he hasn’t forgotten where he’s come from.”
Wiz hopes his presence is an inspiration. “I just wanted to tell them to be themselves,” he said. “Let them know they’re doing the right thing with their lives right now by going to school and dreaming big and just trying to figure it all out.”
