Lyor Cohen Recovering from Pulmonary Embolism

lyorHip-Hop vet Lyor Cohen is recovering after suffering a pulmonary embolism on Saturday (April 9).

To level-set, a pulmonary embolism is the blockage of a blood vessel in the lungs, usually by a bloodclot, that can cause death if large enough and not treated immediately. Said differently … it’s what led to Heavy D’s passing.

“If it wasn’t for my son, and my best friend Norm, I would have been a goner,” said Lyor, who is seen wearing an oxygen mask, in one of his SnapChat messages.

During the 1990s, Lyor famously led Def Jam before assuming an executive role at Warner Music Group. Today he’s the head of 300 Entertainment whose roster includes Young Thug, Fetty Wap and Migos.
