Beyonce Donates $82,000 To Flint, Helps College-bound Detroit Students

Beyonce_formationBeyonce, along with her fans raised during her Formation World Tour, donated $82,234 to aid residents in Flint.

Her BeyGood foundation made the contribution Monday (June 13) in a private event at Detroit’s Cody High School, where the group also announced support for 14 local sophomores with college plans. Handpicked by school faculty, each student will receive $1,000 upon their college enrollments.

Ivy McGregor, Beyoncé’s director of philanthropy, presented the check to representatives with United Way of Genesee County. The money will go into the United Way’s Flint Water Fund, which is assisting residents affected by the city’s water crisis.

Fans have donated money during Beyoncé’s Formation tour, which wraps up its initial U.S. leg tonight at Detroit’s Ford Field.
