Joe Budden Releases Drake Diss Track

JoeBudden_Murd_ohsodjThursday (June 30), Joe Budden made good on his various Twitter hints and dropped “Making A Murderer” (Part 1) – a diss track seemingly aimed at Drake (with a little Meek Mill shade).

It all started – to most of us listeners – back in May on Joe’s Slaughterhouse podcast when he shared that he found Drake’s VIEW “uninspired.” “I think that that kid on that album that I heard sounds real f**kin’ uninspired,” said Budden. “That music sounds good and I enjoy it. I played that album all the way to D.C. and all the way back multiple times. 40 you sound amazing. 40 continues to progress. Drake you do not. I said the other day on this podcast I miss the Drake that starts the waves, not hops on other waves and I’ll say it again: I miss the Drake that pushes the f**kin’ agenda, not lets the agenda push him.”

A week later, French Montana posted a video of himself and Drake with a snippet of a song where Aubs raps, “Pump, pump, pump it up,” which led Joe to speculate that the verse may be about him (Real heads may recall Budden’s 2003 breakout hit was called “Pump It Up”). Then, in early June, Drake dropped “4PM in Calabasas,” which some felt contained a few subliminals directed at Joe.

Despite the obvious, Joe explained to Pitchfork, the track is not coming from a negative place. “I’m not addressing Drake, or addressing Meek because I am malicious toward either of them or I wish either one of them harm or ill will. I am celebrating hip-hop. I want the people who I deem — I want the people who are talented to be talented.”
