Iggy Azalea Inks TV Deal

iggyazaIggy Azalea will soon be ading TV producers to her résumé.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Iggy has signed a first-look overall deal with Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios.

Under the agreement, Azalea will collaborate with both studios to create content millennial-focused programming that focuses on topics ranging from social justice and tolerance to empowering young women.

“Creating television that is reflective of my generation has always been an aspiration of mine,” Iggy said in a statement. “I am incredibly excited to start working on my ideas and am humbled that Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios have given me this once-in-a-life time opportunity.”

Iggy is currently serving as a judge for The X Factor Australia and has directed several of her own music videos. Her 2014 release “The New Classic” spawned hit single “Fancy,” making her the first non-American female rapper to reach the top of the chart on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list.

“Iggy is a strong, passionate voice for her generation and has incredible creative instincts in all aspects of media,” said Dawn Olmstead, exec vp development at UCP and Wilshire Studios. “We already have projects in both the scripted and non-scripted areas. We are very excited to have her join forces with us.”
