During ItsTheReal’s A Waste of Time podcast interview with David Cho, the ex-publisher of The Awl and Grantland, some interesting details were revealed about the making of the 2011 Jay Z and Kanye West joint album Watch the Throne.
Cho revealed that Ye wanted to include the N-word in the titles of each song for Watch the Throne. According to Cho, West explained, “We’re gonna put the N-word in every single title on this album, so everyone has to say it and they have to confront it.”
In the end, he got his wish with only one song – but it happened to be the hit song of the album.
