Leading up to the release of her album Trip, Jhene Aiko has dropped a short film of the same name.
The movie follows Penny (Jhene Aiko) as she deals with the death of her brother. In real life, Jhene’s brother, Miyagi, passed away in July of 2012 after a battle with cancer. Jhene wrote and co-directed the film alongside Tracy Oliver (who co-wrote Girls Trip).
Leading up to “Trip,” Jhene released a mission statement regarding the short film, which she referred to as “Map” and can be heard below.
