Clippers Owner, Don Sterling, Fined and Banned for Life

NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver, announced at a press conference today that L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been banned for life from the NBA and the Clippers organization and fined $2.5 million for the racist comments he made against minorities.

The audio was recorded by his girlfriend V. Stiviano, who incidentally is involved in a lawsuit with Don’s family. NBA authorities verified the voice as Sterling’s and decided on the lifetime ban, along with a $2.5 million fine.

After an ongoing publicity firestorm, including big-name sponsors pulling out, and the NAACP returning all donations and retracting the Lifetime Achievement Award he was set to receive, Sterling is no longer able to associate with the league in any capacity for the rest of his life. He is 81.

Kevin Johnson, the Sacramento mayor and former NBA All-Star, spoke Tuesday on behalf of NBA players. “Today the players believe the commissioner has done his duty,” Johnson said while surrounded by current and former players outside the doors of Los Angeles City Hall. “On this day, Adam Silver is not only the owners commissioner, he is the player’s commissioner.”

Now, when is Magic going to stroke that check for the Clippers? Isn’t it ironic that this girl who he saw as a little more than a jump-off I can only assume from the way he speaks to her on this tape, was the very same girl that brought his ass down. It goes to show you, you can never count anyone out the game.
