Kanye West Tells Media to Stop Demonizing Him

kanwest.ohsodjKanye West has a message for mainstream media: stop “demonizing” him.

It all started a story I actually that was too silly to print. At a recent concert in Australia, Kanye made headlines when he questioned why a couple of his fans weren’t standing up enjoying the music. Come to find out they were wheelchair bound fans and the concert went on. Well, the media’s portrayal of what ‘Ye considers a misunderstanding prompted his next rant.

“I’m a married Christian man with a family,” he exclaimed to fans gathered in the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. “At my concerts, I make sure everybody has as good a time as possible. So all this demonizing me, it aint’ goin’ to work after a while. Pick a new target. Pick a new target because I’m no tone of these dumbass artists that you’re used to. You come at me, I’m going to take my platform and break this shit down for real, intelligent people every night, so they can understand and then, we’ll get back to the music.”

My two-cents: As much as Kanye goes over the line sometimes, I admire his courage in being truthful. It’s easy to play a role and be who people think you should be. But it takes courage to speak your mind and be willing to take whatever people throwback at you. And what he was saying was correct. Main stream media demonizes him, among other artists, to those who have never heard a Kayne album in hopes of some day perhaps stopping his career, removing his platform. For people like myself who love the art-form it’s sad and frustrating. It’s petty. I pray this brother keeps being successful.
