Sad news to report in Northern California. Bay Area rapper The Jacka was shot and killed in Oakland on Monday night (Feb 2).
According to CBS San Francisco, 37-year-old, whose real name is Dominic Newton, was gunned down on MacArthur Boulevard by 94th Avenue in the Eastmont area of Oakland.
Witnesses said they heard several shots fired around 8:15 p.m. local time.
Currently no suspects have been identified. The Jacka, whose career started in the late-90s, was a member of The Mob Figaz. A respected artist on the underground circuit, The Jacka and Philly rapper Freeway released their collaborative Highway Robbery LP in 2014.
