Bobby Shmurda Calls Hot 97 From Prison

bobby.shmurda_ohsodjBobby Shmurda called into Hot 97 Thursday morning (Feb 26) from the protective custody section of Manhattan Detention Complex.

In the brief call–authorities didn’t allow the call to run for more than three minutes–Shmurda revealed that he had been with fellow GS9 member Rowdy Rebel for most of his incarceration, up to a recent incident involving both artists that landed Rowdy in solitary confinement. Shmurda didn’t elaborate on the nature of the fight, but did share his side of his arrest. “The cops been out for me for forever, man,” Shmurda said.

Before Rikers shut down the phone call, Bobby also revealed that police officers taunted him immediately after his arrest, telling him that they didn’t want their kids listening to his music. While he said he feels as if law enforcement has paid him undue attention before and after his incarceration, Ebro assured listeners that Hot 97 had made sure the phone call wouldn’t land the rapper in any additional legal trouble.

In December, Shmurda and a handful of his associates were arrested and charged with a laundry list offenses, the end result of nearly two-year investigation by a special narcotics prosecutor.
