{"id":14668,"date":"2016-02-03T11:00:25","date_gmt":"2016-02-03T16:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ohsodj.com\/?p=14668"},"modified":"2016-02-03T11:00:25","modified_gmt":"2016-02-03T16:00:25","slug":"finger-pointing-over-rihannas-anti-leak-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ohsodj.com\/?p=14668","title":{"rendered":"Finger Pointing Over Rihanna&#8217;s ANTI Leak Continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ohsodj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/rih_anti.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-14544\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ohsodj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/rih_anti.png?resize=250%2C297\" alt=\"rih_anti\" width=\"250\" height=\"297\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-14544\" \/><\/a>Days after Rihanna&#8217;s <strong>ANTI <\/strong>release, both TIDAL and Universal are still pointing fingers at one another for the early leak of the album fans waited 3 yrs for. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As we know, ANTI was released last Thursday (January 28), initially as a streaming exclusive on TIDAL, in which Rihanna is believed to own a 3% stake.<\/p>\n<p>A million free downloads of the album were also made available through a link tweeted by the star, paid for by Samsung.<\/p>\n<p>However, ahead of the LP\u2019s official arrival, it momentarily popped up on TIDAL earlier that day. It was subsequently taken down, but not before it was ripped and leaked.<\/p>\n<p>TIDAL\u2019s Marketing Director Grace Kim told SPIN that the early ANTI leak was due to a \u2018system error\u2019 on TIDAL.<\/p>\n<p>Then things got ugly: a spokesperson for the platform followed up with SPIN, pointing out that Kim was \u201creferring to a system error caused by Universal Music Group\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>As you can imagine, this hasn\u2019t gone down like a strawberry dreamboat at Universal towers.<\/p>\n<p>A senior exec at the major\u2019s US HQ, speaking under the condition of anonymity, told MBW yesterday: \u201cThis accusation is both ridiculous and false.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe delivered the content exactly to their specs. It\u2019s something we do every day on a global basis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are trying to pass blame for their own incompetence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Boom!  So TIDAL says it\u2019s UMG\u2019s fault and UMG says it\u2019s TIDAL\u2019s fault.<\/p>\n<p>I would imagine that someone, somewhere has to carry the can for the error \u2013 particularly when Samsung, Rihanna, Jay Z and the whole Roc Nation team will be demanding answers.  The few minutes of the leak resulted in approximately 1,000 units sold. Not bad when considered in the proper context. However when bumped against projects with a full 7 days of sales it appears meek.<\/p>\n<p>Then again, perhaps it doesn\u2019t matter all that much\u2026 depending on who you believe.  The album was streamed more than 13 million times in 14 hours on TIDAL.
