The NY Daily News reports that singer Russell Neal calmly walked into a Houston, Texas sheriff’s office last Wednesday (7/2) to tell deputies his wife was dead and that he needed a lawyer.

Cops knocked down the door to the couple’s home and found Catherine Martinez killed by multiple stab wounds.

The 24-year-old fitness model and aspiring boxer, who worked under the name Brasilia Martinez, was declared dead at the scene. The two had two children together.

Russell – whose group rose to fame with “I Like The Way (The Kissing Game)” in 1991 and later “She’s Playing Hard To Get,” and “Quality Time” – was formally taken into custody. He told detectives that the pair had gotten into an argument – before refusing to answer any further questions.

Here’s a pic of the group from their prime. Tony Thompson (middle), Roderick ‘Pooh’ Clark, Marcus Sanders, Russell Neal (at far right), and Toriano Easley. The band released four albums, but disbanded after Thompson (the lead singer) died from freon inhalation in 2007.

This is so crazy. I literally was talking about them on the 4th of July. SMH … Sad.
