Diddy Donates to Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship

combsIt’s great to see things like this.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has joined forces with the global non-profit Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) to support at-risk youth.I’m passionate about mentoring as you know if you read some of my posts.

More than 500,000 students have completed NFTE courses since Steve Mariotti founded the nonprofit in 1987.

Earlier this month, the NFTE released survey results showing that students who completed its programs – both middle and high school students – were more likely to graduate from high school or earn college degrees in science, technology, engineering, or math.  This comes as no surprise to me. Kids just need to know someone cares and invested in their success.  If you set expectations, most people – kids included – will attempt to meet them.

Thursday night, the organization crowned the winners of its annual youth entrepreneurship contest. They also announced a $250,000 donation from Diddy to continue its efforts.

In other Diddy news, the mogul is gearing up to launch his own network on Oct 21, Revolt.  Revolt is now a Twitter channel. The channel is being billed as “social by design” and will launch with all-music programming: videos, music news and interviews.
