Fetty Wap Makes History on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs Chart

fetty-damFetty Wap has made history. He’s the first act to simultaneously have his first four singles in the top 10 of Hot Rap Songs.

Fetty Wap arrives at No. 8 on the Hot Rap Songs chart (dated Aug. 29) with “Again,” becoming the first act in the tally’s 26-year history to chart his first four entries in the top 10 simultaneously.

He’s also at No. 2 with “Trap Queen,” No. 3 with “My Way” featuring Monty, and No. 5 with ”679” featuring Remy Boyz.

Only eight other acts have posted four concurrent top 10s, but none have done so with their first four charting tracks.

The first artist to achieve four parallel top 10s came in 2005 when 50 Cent climbed 16-10 as a feature on The Game’s “Hate It Or Love It,” joining three other tracks — two as a lead and one additional feature.

However, the first time anyone had four tracks chart in the top 10 as a lead act was in 2009, when T.I. held the No. 1 spot with “Live Your Life” featuring Rihanna, followed by “Whatever You Like” (No. 4), the co-billed Jay Z & T.I. “Swagga Like Us” featuring Kanye West & Lil Wayne (No. 8), and “Dead And Gone” featuring Justin Timberlake (No. 9).

Apart from T.I. and 50 Cent, the other acts to have as many coexisting top 10s have been T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Drake, 2 Chainz, Eminem, and Iggy Azalea. Among them, only Drake and 50 Cent have one-upped the feat by sharing the record for most simultaneous top 10s on the chart, five.
