Songs from Eminem, Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa and The Weeknd Advance in Oscar’s Original Song Category

eminemEminem, Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa and The Weeknd are in the Oscar running for the Original Song category according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Academy announced Friday (December 11) that 74 songs have advanced in the process to be nominated for an Oscar in the best Original Song category for the 88th Academy Awards, which is set to take place February 28, 2016.

Eminem’s “Phenomenal,” from Southpaw which featuring the acting chops of 50 Cent was tapped along with 3 three original track’s from Rihanna’s hit animated movie HOME.

Two songs from another boxing movie Creed made the initial cut. There’s Meek Mill, Jhene Aiko and Ludwig Goransson’s “Fighting Stronger” and Donald Glover, Jhené Aiko, Vince Staples and Ludwig Göransson’s “Waiting For My Moment.”

The hit Furious 7 song “See You Again” from Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth is also in the running.
