Octavia Spencer Slated to Play in Remake of “Murder, She Wrote”

NBC is remaking the mystery drama, “Murder, She Wrote,” with Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer as Angela Lansbury.

Octavia is most recently known for her role as Minny Jackson in the movie The Help.

The original “Murder She Wrote” aired on CBS from 1984 through 1996 and drew 23 million viewers in its prime.

Angela Lansbury racked up a record 12 Emmy nominations during her 12-season run.

Whew … big shoes to fill.
