Prince’s Estate Sues Jay Z x TIDAL Over Streaming Rights

hov.cigarTidal is being sued by Prince’s label for illegally streaming nearly all of his popular songs according to TMZ.

Prince allegedly signed an agreement with Jay Z’s Roc Nation before his death and the “1999” singer’s lawyers at NPG Records are claiming Hov’s label overstepped the boundaries.

The agreement claims that Prince was giving Tidal permission to stream the last album before he died, “Hit N Run: Phase 1,” but the streaming service went ahead and published almost all of his catalog on July 7 – which would have been his 58th birthday.

Roc Nation is now being sued for copyright infringement and Prince’s label has blocked Tidal from continuing to stream any of the late pop icon’s music.

No dollar amount is listed with the suit, but TMZ alleges that the list of unauthorized songs up for listening on Tidal went on for more than three pages.
