Welp, I thought this was excessive but what do I know.
The Major League Baseball Players Association is launching an investigation into Jay-Z for his recent gift to his primary signing, Robinson Cano. The MLBPA prohibits agents giving gifts to athletes in order to either persuade them to sign with the agent or to keep them on board.
On October 22nd, Jay went to Belgium to attend Cano’s birthday and brought him a $33,900 Hublot watch. Although Cano is already signed with Roc Nation, perhaps it was viewed as a way to keep him aboard. Either way, the MLBPA sees it as fishy behavior.
I’m pretty sure this exchange is on the up-and-up, BUT Hov shouldn’t play w/ fire. Ease up on the social media displays if you don’t want any problems.
