WATCH the First Trailer for Jay Z’s Docuseries ‘TIME: The Kalief Browder Story’

On March 1, Jay Z and the Weinstein Company will release their six-part docuseries TIME: The Kalief Browder Story on Spike TV. The series will capture the life of 16-year-old Kalief Browder, who spent three years in jail on Rikers Island without ever being convicted of a crime.

In 2010, the teen was imprisoned for allegedly stealing a backpack. The case never went to trial and Browder found himself clinging onto dear life while being trapped in jail. During his three years in jail, Browder spent two of them in solitary confinement. After being released from prison, he committed suicide.

“I look at Kalief Browder as a modern-day prophet,” Jay Z said in a press conference back in October. “Our prophets come in many different shapes, forms and mediums. This young man, just by the fact that he brought all of us here today, lets you know how powerful of a soul he was.”

The six-part docuseries will include first-person accounts, interviews with family members and friends, archival footage, and reenactments of key moments in Browder’s life.

Check out the trailer below. TIME: The Kalief Browder Story will air Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
