Nick Cannon has announced that he is quitting his job as host of America’s Got Talent. He made the formal announcement Monday (February 13). The decision comes after a racial joke he made in a new comedy special last week.
During his stand-up special that aired Friday night (February 10), Cannon joked that he was losing his “black card” by hosting the family-friendly reality competition show. NBC executives apparently did not find the joke humorous and believed he breached his contract by disparaging the show.
After learning that there were discussions at the network about canning him, Cannon took to Instagram to announce he was indeed leaving the program.
