On Friday(March 24), Kevin Gates was scheduled to be released from Polk County Jail where he was incarcerated for misdemeanor assault. However plans changed dramatically and he was instead held due to an out of state warrant for a felony weapons charge out of Illinois. He is set to be extradited to Cook County, where the weapons charge stems from.
Addressing the unexpected news, Gates’ wife, Dreka, recently released a statement on her Instagram page thanking fans and asking them to keep her husband in their thoughts and prayers during these trying times. “To everyone that’s rooting for Kevin right now, THANK YOU, but PLEASE shift your thoughts, prayers, energy, etc. towards the idea of Kevin being home and enjoying life as a free man,” she wrote. “Do NOT dwell on the things that have been put out by the media. Their only goal in anything is to grab/seek attention, not necessarily to release information that is FACTUAL.”
