DMX Sentenced To 1 Year In Prison For Tax Evasion

DMX has been ordered to serve one-year in prison for tax evasion.

TMZ reports prosecutors were pushing for a harsh sentence of 5 years. However, the judge eventually decided to give X 1-year, plus 3 years of supervised release. Back in November of last year, DMX entered a guilty plea to one count of tax evasion, as part of a deal his attorneys struck with the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He was originally facing 14 counts and 44 years in prison, for allegedly engaging in a “multi-year scheme” to prevent from paying around $1.7 million in taxes from the IRS.

During the sentencing on Wednesday (Mar. 28), DMX addressed the judge taking responsibility for his actions.
