Kanye West has inspired a new digital currency (similar to Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ripple) called Coinye West.
The creators of the virtual money said Coinye West will be a “cryptocurrency” ready for use by anyone.
“Bitcoin is for hardcore money-hoarders, and Dogecoin was more for the internet-meme crowds … Our goal with Coinye West is to make it easier for people to use cryptocurrency,” the innovators said in an email interview with SPIN, choosing to remain anonymous in case the Chi-town “doesn’t approve of the appropriation.”
The gold-plate graphic will feature Kanye’s visage with shades reminiscent of his “Stronger” video. The currency creators say they selected the rapper’s face “because he is and always has been a trendsetter and always keeps things unique.”
Coinye West is set to drop Jan. 11 at 11 p.m. EST.
