It’s hard to believe that we lost Babygirl all the way back in 2001. I remember the exact moment I got the news. For me – a stranger – it was a blow, but I can’t imagine what it meant to those that loved her. I can honestly recall that moment as a clear shift in my thought pattern. It was the first time I felt the reality of how precious life is. I felt a clear urgency then to take control over it and really be accountable for all the good and bad that happened in it. Months after her death I got the courage to start writing and haven’t stopped since.
Now years later, she’s still stuntin’ on ‘em. Her name is still mentioned. Her style is still mimicked. Her music is still relevant. She even had artists like Drake and Chris Brown itching to put out new music using her vocals.
