G-Star Raw Denim and the Bionic Yarn company – along with Pharrell Williams -have partnered to present RAW for the Oceans.
The collaboration will use Bionic Yarn’s expertise in developing and manufacturing premium yarns and fabrics made from plastic waste collected from oceans that have been recycled and enhanced and G-Star’s mastery of denim to create the first denim collection made from recycled plastics found in the ocean.
Bionic Yarn’s Creative Director, Pharrell Williams, will serve as the collection’s co-designer.
As the Creative Director of Bionic Yarn, Pharrell was at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City to announce the collaboration.
“Working with G-Star was an obvious choice, because they have a legacy of pushing the boundaries of fashion and denim forward,” explained Pharrell. “Bionic Yarn is a company built around performance, and denim is the perfect category to show the world what Bionic Yarn can do. Everyone has jeans in their closet.”
The first collection is set to launch online and in G-Star stores on August 15.
