Since Chris Brown’s assault on Rihanna in 2009, the singer has been plagued with many assault claims including a bottle-throwing battle with Drake, a brawl Frank Ocean, a temper-tantrum at Good Morning America offices, an alleged assault with a D.C. man and throwing a rock through his mother’s car window while in rehab.

Well, Los Angeles Superior Court documents have revealed that Chris’ outbursts of anger may have been brought on by his recent diagnosis of bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Chris was in court on Friday (February 28) for a progress hearing in his 2009 assault case after he was sentenced to 90 days in rehab in November.

“Mr. Brown will also require close supervision by his treating physician in order to ensure his bipolar mental health condition remains stable. It is not uncommon for patients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar II to use substances to self-medicate their biomedical mood swings and trauma triggers,” a letter from the facility read. “Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD.”

According to the documents, Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin said “It is evident that [Brown] has responded well to the dual diagnosis treatment.”

Hmmm, I hate this for him but I totally called this. Even before the Drake brawl – to me – throwing a chair out of a window of the GMA offices was well beyond the actions of a well-balanced person. Hopefully he gets the help that he needs.
