Chief Keef Dropped From Interscope

keef.ohsodjHas he been dropped or not? That was the question raised for a couple of days now. Now I suppose we have the answer. Chief Keef took to Twitter on Tuesday, Oct. 21, to confirm that he’s been dropped from Interscope Records.

“I been dropped for a week now,” he said in a text conversation, which he posted on Twitter.

Tension between Interscope and Keef reportedly started when Keef found himself in legal issues in 2013, a year after signing to the major label in 2012. Keef moved from Chicago to Los Angeles, and spent time earlier this year at a Malibu-based rehab facility after testing positive for marijuana in October.

Unfortunately, Keef was released from his contract after arguments intensified between him and the label over his career, according to published reports. “Keef and his people tried to keep the label accountable (once Keef moved to Los Angeles) but Interscope didn’t seem interested in dropping a new album. Keef’s team tried to have formal meetings but nothing moved,” a source told the outlet.

Keef will continue to work on two projects, as he was: his second Back From The Dead mixtape, due on Halloween, and his sophomore album, Bang 3, which features his collaboration with Kanye West (“Nobody”) and Tyga (“Now & Later”).
