Riri for River Island

It’s finally here!

After much talk, Rihanna’s collection for River Island launched yesterday.  Although it received rather rocky reviews at London’s recent fashion week, fans didn’t seem to mind.  They lined up and sold London and NYC flagship stores practically out.

This girl can make a potato sack look good.  And what really is going to push this line is that she actually wears her own clothes.  (What a genius concept. Wonder why more celebs don’t support what they put their names on? For the sake of staying on task, I won’t even go there.)

She has admittedly designed clothes for her own interest.  Critics cautioned that an artist designing a line for themselves could be the kiss of death – especially since it lacks cohesion.  But I predict this will be a huge plus.

Most people are visual, and seeing a plain plaid shirt or haltertop carefully styled on a rock star is smart business.
