OWN Network to Air “Light Girls” Documentary

lightgirlsWell isn’t this interesting. The OWN Network will be airing a “Light Girls” documentary.

When The OWN Network aired the “Dark Girls” documentary, Twitter was a buzz with many women coming forward to discuss their life experiences in America as a dark-skinned woman. Confessions, realizations, frustrations and empathy were all shared across the social network.

Now, in conjunction with the 50 year celebration of the march on Selma, the OWN Network will air “Light Girls” on January 19th. The documentary is aimed at continuing the discussion of colorism in the African-American community. Actresses Raven Symone, Kym Whitley, Diahann Carrol, Essence Atkins and more will speak honestly about how their light skin impacted their life experiences, their relationships and the injustices they face.
