Say it ain’t so. Newark Mayor (& politician golden child) Cory Booker has fallen victim to social media’s temptations after reports surfaced this week that he’s traded Twitter messages with a Portland-based vegan stripper. (All these single, decent women throwing it around him and he entertains a vegan stripper. SMH. He must be backed up. I digressed … )
The two began corresponding after appearing in “Follow Friday: The Film,” an upcoming documentary about Twitter.
“@CoryBooker you’re welcome to come stay in my bedroom if your home was affected by the hurricane . . . ;)” Lee tweeted in October, after Hurricane Sandy.
On Feb. 24, Lee tweeted, “@CoryBooker the west coast loves you (by west coast, I mean me) :),” an expression of affection that finally prompted Booker to respond.
“The East Coast loves you and by the East Coast I mean me,” he tamely responded in a direct message to Lee that the Daily News obtained.
“Well now I’m blushing,” responded Lee, whose account is strewn with nude selfies and other not-safe-for-work material.
“It’s only fair,” Booker wrote back.
The senator is known for his zealous embrace of social media and has amassed more than 1.4 million followers on Twitter.
“The mayor talks with people from all walks of life on Twitter,” Cory’s spokesperson Kevin Griffis says in response. “The most shocking part of the story was learning that there is a vegan strip club in Portland.”
Cory, sir, apparently you’re new at this social media game. However, you’ve got to learn how to be more discreet. As a golden rule, you should stay away from Twitter followers with stripper/ dancer listed as the occupation. I also think it’s a red flag when your profile picture is semi-nude. #IJS
Outside of this obvious bad choice, I actually have no issue w/ Cory dating – even if he’s DMing people on Twitter. In this day of age, Twitter is simply one form of communication and he’s a young man. Why not be familiar with it??? He’s 44, single and has a stellar future ahead of him. I expect nothing less than a bad chick. Unlike many politicians that get married in their 20s, he’s in a wildy great position for picking a partner. As a politician however, he has to be more cautious.
