Jordan’s Flight 23 Opens

flightDespite the fact that the Jordan brand has shaped the sneaker industry into what it is today, can you believe that there has never been a store dedicated to the collection?

Well all that changed this weekend. Located in New York City on 225 W.34th Street, the first Jordan-only store in North America opened. Sneakerheads camped out overnight (some for days) for the much anticipated grand opening.

From the official release:

“[Saturday] morning in midtown Manhattan, Jordan Brand president Larry Miller, Footaction CEO Jake Jacobs and filmmaker Spike Lee officially welcomed the first consumers to Flight 23 at Footaction. The group untied a pair of giant shoelaces to signify the opening of the store, welcoming hundreds of fans lined up at the store on West 34th Street.”

“This is like Jordan’s house in New York. I’ve been excited about this for a long time, and it’s even crazier than I would have thought,” said Carmelo Anthony after getting his first look at the store.”

Several celebs and personalities popped in. Power 105.1’s DJ Envy spun on opening day. Meanwhile 50 Cent dropped in causing a frenzy. Carmelo stopped by the night before and Drake made an early morning stop before the official opening.
