Everything is Better in Layers

veg1_X-Pro SlideBesides keeping up with all the things that are breaking down as you age, you also start to notice little patterns about yourself.  Some are huge epiphanies while others are cute little quirks.  Whichever one it is, it’s always a happy moment to get to know yourself better.  I wish it happened while I was younger but guess you can’t have it all.

I personally enjoy knowing my body better – understanding how it reacts to certain foods, conditions, even people. (Yep, some people literally make me sick.) I’m starting to dress it a little better . I know what designs and lengths of clothes work for me and what doesn’t.  I see what type of accessories I gravitate to.

All of my really close friends – and I – enjoy fashion.  Their style is trendy and fashion mag ready.  They look like they just stepped from the pages.  Mine is a little more bohemian and timeless.  I like flowy materials, lace, vintage looks.  And no matter what the occasion, I find myself in layers. Doesn’t matter if it’s winter or summer, I layer.  When I’m not layering my clothes, I layer my jewelry.  These days I find myself wearing multiple bracelets and necklaces.  Apparently one is not enough.

Recently I found these cute little bangles that are perfect for stacking – Alex and Ani.

Alex and Ani create expandable bangles that promote positivity and energy by incorporating inspirational messages and charms with each piece.  Just as appealing, the bracelets are made from recycled metals and are made in America.

They’re not huge pieces so they are perfect for stacking.  The cool thing about them is by having multiple bangles, you tell a story about yourself.  I’ve been combing through the website tonight and I’ve found myself gravitating toward the Pisces and anchor charms.  The site describes Pisces as “the most artistic of all the signs and highly adept at understanding people…They are exceedingly sensitive and compassionate, the fish are also elusive and emotional extremists.”  Agreed.

Meanwhile, “the anchor is a symbol of stability, hope, and peace. [It] allows us to keep a clear mind amidst the tides of life.”  Perfect.  No one’s 100% during tough times but I typically hold it together pretty well.  To me anyway…

The bangles are pretty inexpensive.  Most are around the $28 mark.  They have a brass base and are nickel-free for those with sensitive skin.
