This Is The End

tite_Old color photoSaw Seth Rogen’s This Is The End movie today.  It was Hilarious !!! Probably the funniest I’ve ever seen. I’ve never reviewed a comedy and honestly I do not even think I could even do it justice, but I’ll throw you the premise.

Playing themselves, Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel attend the star-studded house warming party of James Franco.  True to L.A. standards, the party includes drugs, drinking, sex and lots of bad singing.  Things take a turn when they’re interrupted by the biblical apocalypse (a.k.a the Book of Revelation) that leaves Seth and Jay trapped with James, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride, and Jonah Hill. They’re seemingly all friends until the great task of survival becomes apparent and rivalries and resentments come to a head.  This is when a barrage of incredibly funny sketches about masturbation and homosexuality somehow mesh into perfection.

This is the third feature written by Seth and Evan Goldberg, and easily their best.  What makes this movie funny is all the self-deprecating humor about Hollywood and the actor’s own personal movies and acting.

Other note-worthy appearances include comedian/ writer Mindy Kaling most notably from The Office, Harry Potter’s Emma Watson, comedian Kevin Hart (who’s super funny in his own right), Aziz Ansari (also super funny), Channing Tatum, Rihanna and actor Michael Cera.  BTW – Cera, best known for his awkward roles in Super Bad and Juno, may have only been in the movie for about 15 minutes, but he was crazy funny.

Long story, short – if you like the comedic timing of Seth, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson from The Office and ever found James Franco remotely funny, you will LOVE, LOVE this movie.
