Alexander Wang helped kick off New York Fashion Week Saturday with a star-studded showing.
The collection included pleated miniskirts, crop tops, cotton tunics and athletic shorts. Everything was done minimally in classic gray uniform fabric with his name appearing on most pieces.
When people weren’t starring at the clothes, they were eyeing Kanye West, Solange Knowles, Courtney Love and Kerry Washington. Turns out Alexander is a celeb magnet.
Nicki Minaj set off the after party with her performance. (BTW – who knew Alexander could dance. You better go boy!) But it was Rihanna whose self-described ghetto goth look caused quite a fashion stir. Drapped in long, neck plunging dress, things seemed to be par for the course. However, the black pony hair platforms and a new mullet hair style didn’t sit well with fashionistas.
The Ghetto Goth look is definitely not my fav Rihanna look. I hands-down hate the shoes, but somehow she can pull it off. Heck a paper bag would look good on her. She takes fashion risks that keeps everyone talking. Do I want to see this new school mullet and pony platforms become a trend? Absolutely not. But that is exactly why she’s a rock star.
