Charlamagne Tha God recently revealed on his Podcast The Brilliant Idiots: It’s Business like Show Business but Mind Your Business,that Nicki Minaj unfollowed him on Twitter and even made calls to the radio station threatening to not to appear on The Breakfast Club again after Charlamagne didn’t take an instant liking to “Anaconda.”
“I know she got upset when I said ‘Anaconda’ was corny,” said Charlamagne. “But my exact synopsis on ‘Anaconda’ when it first came out was I’m not really feeling this record. It’s not for me. It’s for girls, it’s for kids, it’s for people who like to shake their ass. I said when the video comes out, I will probably appreciate this song more. But I said, ‘it’s going to work but its corny.’”
My two-cents: When you’re a star as big as Nicki you have to be open to people’s constructive criticism. And yes, I feel what he said was constructive. Hell … in fact I agree with it. I grew up on MC Lyte & Lil Kim so an ode to “Baby Got Back” is not my cup of tea, but yep … like Charlamagne I can see a generation of people who do love this. Oh and by the way … subscribe to THe Brilliant Idiots if you’re haven’t already. It is hilarious.
