As we all know Vanessa Simmons, 30, is gearing up to be a new mom. She announced the news via Instagram on Monday.
The father is Vanessa’s boyfriend, Mike Wayans, son of Damon Wayans. The two have been dating for 8 years. (8 years … who knew)
“We are both very excited about the birth of our first child,” she said in a statement. “We totally were expecting it to be [a] boy all along but got very surprised when we found out it was indeed a girl. I immediately went out and brought a cute [little] outfit for her right after the appointment.”
Though ecstatic about the news, she revealed that there was one person she was afraid to tell — her dad Rev. Run. (surprise, surprise)
“I was so nervous telling my dad at first being that I’m not married YET but he was very excited and is supportive 100 percent. His concern is just that I’m happy,” she said. “Both families are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new baby girl. She’s coming into two huge families waiting to give her lots of love.”
I get it. Her dad’s a reverend so some people feel some kind of way about her news. Here’s what I know for sure (without getting religious):
If you’re blessed enough to live long enough, you will personally find out that life has a way of happening. That’s not to say that we have no hand in some of the experiences, but sometimes when the most unlikely, unplanned thing happens, it can be the best moment of our lives.
When I played it straight and narrow for the benefit of all those but me, I can 100% say those were some hollow days. I think everyone should have standards, rules; some sort of ethic code they live by. By no means am I suggesting that you run amok in these streets. Just make sure its something YOU believe in. Don’t have a life that looks good on paper but secretly sucks. I can’t tell how many people married, miserable people I know.
I wish Vanessa the best. She seems like a nice young lady. If her current situation works then who are we to judge.
